Hand-Stitched Patchwork Journal Cover Workshop

Spend a relaxing creative day making your own one-of-a-kind, hand-stitched patchwork journal cover. You’ll have a beautiful selection of fabric pieces, scraps and decorative trims to choose from, including Indian trims, ribbons and other textile treasures. Create your own unique combination, then add your own personality with optional embroidery, beads and a ribbon closure. You’ll also choose the fabric for the inside of your cover, creating a journal cover that is completely your own. I’ll share my own process throughout the workshop, along with tips, tricks and ideas for combining fabrics, trims and embellishments. There will be plenty of time to experiment, stitch and enjoy the process in a relaxed, creative environment — no previous sewing or embroidery experience is required. At the beginning of the workshop, you’ll also have the opportunity to take a mini tour of my art studio and look through some of the junk journals I’ve made for inspiration. What’s included: A beautiful selection of fabrics, fabric scraps and decorative trims to choose from Embroidery materials and embellishments Beads and other decorative elements Your choice of fabric for the inside of your cover Tea and biscuits All basic tools and materials needed for the workshop Please bring your own lunch. There are not any places close by to get food. There will be a break during the workshop to enjoy your lunch and refreshments. We have a sandwich press, microwave, fridge, kettle and a coffee machine. Tea and biscuits available throughout the workshop. If you don’t quite finish your cover during the workshop, that’s completely fine. You can take your chosen materials home with you and finish your journal cover in your own time. This workshop can be booked on its own, or combined with my Make & Bind Your Own Junk Journal Pages workshop the following week. The two workshops can be enjoyed independently, or together as a two-part journal-making experience. Workshop photos show examples of a slow-stitched journal cover and junk journal pages. This workshop is just for making the cover but you can combine the two workshops here. Your finished piece will be uniquely yours. This workshop is suitable for beginners and beyond.
